BERLIN (Sputnik) – Germany's Tornado reconnaissance jets made about 150 flights in Syria as a part of the counter-terrorist operation in the country, the German Defense Ministry stated Monday.
"There were 148 Tornado flights, half of that number — at night," the Defense Ministry spokesman Boris Nannt said.
Germany has been flying reconnaissance missions in Syria after the parliament approved their deployment last December, following Islamist attacks in Paris. The German armed forces, Bundeswehr, operate in the region as part of the US-led international coalition, without a permit from Damascus or the United Nations.
Moscow is conducting its own mission in Syria against the Islamic State terrorist group, which is outlawed in Russia and several other countries.
