KIEV (Sputnik) — NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg pledged to continue comprehensive support of Ukrainian military reform process, the Ukrainian government press service said Tuesday.
Earlier in the day, a Ukraine-NATO commission chaired by Stoltenberg took place in Brussels. Ukrainian delegation was headed by Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak.
"During the meeting, Jens Stoltenberg confirmed that the alliance would continue providing comprehensive support to Ukraine in reforming its defense sphere and strengthening the capacity of its armed forces," the press service said.
In December 2014, Ukraine canceled the country's non-aligned status, confirming its intention to join NATO. The alliance's officials have repeatedly stressed that Kiev will have to implement a wide range of reforms before joining the bloc.
