MOSCOW (Sputnik) – An Ariane-5 carrier rocket has successfully launched a Eutelsat 65 West A communications satellite from the European spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana, the launch operator said Wednesday.

The Eutelsat 65 West A is a tri-band satellite that will cover Latin America and Brazil.
The Ariane-5 rocket is manufactured under the authority of the European Space Agency (ESA). About 10 years and $7 billion were spent on developing the Ariane- 5. To date, 71 successful launches have been carried out using this model of carrier rocket.
