MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russia’s reconciliation center registered seven ceasefire violations across northwestern Syria over the past 24 hours, the daily newsletter published on the Russian Defense Ministry’s website said on Wednesday.
"Over 24 hours, the cessation of hostilities was violated seven times (three in Aleppo, one each in Latakia, Homs, Idlib, Hama)," the newsletter stated.
The Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in the city of Aleppo was shelled three times by the Sultan Murad Brigade and a group named "Firka16."
The Latakia-based reconciliation center underscored that neither Russian nor Syrian jets carried out airstrikes on armed opposition groups that had expressed intent to join the cessation of hostilities.
The ceasefire between Syrian government rebel forces, negotiated between Russia and the United States, took effect on February 27. It does not affect designated terrorist groups active in the Arab republic.
