MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Shishani has been serving as a Daesh's commander in Syria. The US airstrike reportedly took place on Friday near the northeastern Syrian town of al-Shaddadi.
"We are in an active and fruitful cooperation with the US government, and at dawn it informed us that there is such a probability. I want to emphasize that this is only an assumption," the minister said as quoted by the local Imedi broadcaster.
The US-led coalition of over 60 nations has been carrying out airstrikes against Daesh, first in Iraq and later Syria since 2014 — albeit without the approval of the Syrian government or the UN Security Council.
