TOKYO (Sputnik) – The Kori NPP, which had been shut since January 27 for scheduled maintenance, has been approved to restart its operations from March 9, according to the nuclear watchdog's statement.

The fourth reactor is due to become fully operational by March 12 provided an inspection carried out by the commission finds nothing that negatively affects the facility’s work, the nuclear watchdog highlighted in the statement.

South Korea runs 24 nuclear reactors at four nuclear power plants. The first reactor in the country was built in 1972.
