The 46-year-old lady from Besançon in eastern France spent thousands after thinking she had hit the right numbers.
One hectic shopping day and 4,000 euros later she saw her payments for clothes, perfume and luxury trinkets denied and a family member telling her that he had checked her tickets only to discover that she hadn’t won a thing.
Realizing that she had not hit the jackpot, the woman said she had her handbag stolen to explain the extravagant spending.
The unfortunate woman eventually ended up in court.
CCTV footage quickly exposed the lame excuse and the unlucky “millionaire” was handed a four-month suspended sentence and ordered to pay the money back.
