Earlier this week, an Iranian Defense Ministry source confirmed that there were no problems with the S-300 delivery to Iran, noting that work was underway to resolve the remaining technical issues.
"No problems. The deliveries are ongoing," Mohammad Nahavandian, who is on a working visit to the United Kingdom, told RIA Novosti.
Russia's Kommersant business daily earlier reported some problems with the implementation of the renewed contract on the delivery of the air defense systems to Tehran caused by disagreements on the payment mechanism proposed by the Iranian side.
The $900-million Russia-Iran contract to deliver five Russian S-300 systems to Iran was signed in 2007. It was suspended after the adoption of UN Security Council sanctions on Iran in mid-2010. In April 2015, Russia resumed the talks on S-300 deliveries following a framework agreement on the landmark deal ensuring the peaceful nature of Tehran’s nuclear program.
Russia and Iran are expected to fulfil the S-300 contracts in 2016, according to the Iranian military officials.
