Plans by the UK government to introduce a controversial Snoopers' Charter have come under fire from the UN and privacy activists amid claims the proposed legislation contains 'catch-all' clauses.
According to the UN Special Rapporteur on the right to privacy, the intelligence provisions in the bill — particularly those of bulk hacking and interception of data — "run counter to the most recent judgments of the European Court of Justice and the European Court of Human Rights, and undermine the spirit of the very right to privacy.
