WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Warren noted that in two cases so far, the US held Daesh prisoners for a short time period before putting them into custody of Iraq’s authorities.
"We are not equipped for long-term detention," Warren stated when asked about the US Department of Defense's policy for detaining Daesh operatives.
If US personnel need to interrogate said Daesh captives, he claimed, the United States will work with the Iraqi authorities.
The United States does not plan on building any facilities for long-term detention of Daesh operatives, he added.
Daesh is a terrorist group outlawed in Russia and many other countries. The group has seized large areas in Syria and Iraq and has proclaimed an Islamic caliphate on territories under its control.
