MOSCOW (Sputnik) – "We regret to announce that Keith Emerson died last night at his home in Santa Monica, Los Angeles, aged 71. We ask that the family’s privacy and grief be respected," Emerson, Lake & Palmer said in a Facebook statement.
The TMZ celebrity news website reported citing law enforcement sources on Friday that Emerson had a single gunshot wound to the head when his girlfriend found him in the Santa Monica home.
Keith Emerson was a member of The Nice band before founding Emerson, Lake & Palmer, which became one of the best-known progressive rock bands in the 1970s.
