Chosen for their physical attractiveness, the 20 members of the all-female division in the Aguascalientes police department have projected a sexy image in their tight-fitting uniforms, sunglasses and 4.7-inch heels, but the new secretary for public security thought they were a distraction and scrapped the outfit, replacing it with officers in normal uniforms.
Eduardo Bahena Pineda got rid of 13 of the erotic-looking cops and ordered the rest to wear standard uniforms and ditch their high heels, Central European News reported.
The special department hit the headlines after President Enrique Pena Nieto published a photo alongside the stimulating officers.
The only female officer left in the reformed department from the 20 initial members, Alma Rosa, said she thinks the change is positive.
"People would come to us, but they seemed puzzled as we did not look like real policewomen. Now that I'm an operative officer and I wear police shoes I feel much prouder. I was proud before, but now I feel prouder," she said.
