GENEVA (Sputnik) — The delegation of Syrian opposition High Negotiations Committee (HNC) has arrived in Geneva to form a transitional governing body in Syria, which would exclude President Bashar Assad, Mohammed Alloush, a HNC senior member representing Jaysh al-Islam militant group, told Sputnik on Saturday.
The new round of intra-Syrian talks, which were postponed earlier, is set to be held between March 14 and 24 in Geneva.
"We are ready for a fair solution. We have come here to form a transitional authority, without Assad in power," Alloush said.
Mohammed Alloush also thinks that the progress of the Geneva talks depends on Damascus delegation's will.
"Whether negotiations would advance or not depends on the will of the other party to [reach] a solution, and we know that the other party is not ready for it," Alloush said.
The Jaysh al-Islam opposition group is designated as a terrorist organization in Syria and Russia. Alloush was appointed as the chief negotiator for the Saudi-backed opposition delegation at the proximity talks in Geneva.
