GENEVA (Sputnik) – The delegation of the Syrian opposition backed by Moscow and Cairo will meet with UN envoy to Syria Staffan de Mistura in Geneva on March 16 to discuss the formation of a new government, a fresh constitution and future elections in the crisis-torn country, a member of the delegation told Sputnik on Saturday.
"The meeting with our delegation is scheduled for March 16. De Mistura's Office proposed the following agenda: the government, the constitution, the election. We are very pleased with such agenda and the start of serious discussions," Qadri Jamil from Syria's Popular Front for Change and Liberation said.
On Monday, the second round of the talks between the Syrian government and the opposition is due to start in Geneva.
Two opposition delegations are taking part in the intra-Syria talks. The High Negotiations Committee was created in Saudi Arabia in December and includes representatives of some groups considered to be terrorist organizations by Syria and Russia. The second delegation was created following talks in Moscow and Cairo.
