Masked men broke a window and threw a Molotov cocktail at the office of Kosovo's president on Saturday, local media reported, citing police.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the police, which arrived at the scene immediately after the incident, the office was empty at the time of the incident, so no one was injured. The investigation into the incident has been launched.

"After throwing a Molotov cocktail, the suspects fled on a white car. First, they threw stones that broke the window, and then tried to throw a Molotov cocktail there. The burning bottle hit the wall, on which there are traces of fire," the police was quoted by the Radio Television of Serbia.

The anonymous group, which named itself as "dissatisfied citizens," sent a letter to the Kosovan broadcaster Klan Kosova TV, claiming responsibility for the failed attack.

Kosovo is currently facing political crisis, with the opposition denouncing the deal between Pristina and Belgrade, which would give more right to the Kosovan ethnic Serbs.

Late last month, the parliament of Kosovo adjourned a debate devoted to the election of a new president, as an opposition member sprayed tear gas in the building. The opposition was trying to postpone the election of the new president, which would have required early parliamentary elections to be called, which was one of the opposition's aims.

Eventually, new president Hashim Thaci was elected, and will take office next month.
