NEW YORK (Sputnik) – Anti-war activists plan to stage a protest at US presidential candidate Donald Trump's campaign rally in Washington DC, which will hopefully lead to its cancellation, International Action Center co-director Sara Founders told Sputnik on Sunday.
"Next Sunday in Washington DC there is a rally for Palestine at the White House and it is marching to the AIPAC [American Israel Public Affairs Committee] convention," Founders said. "Trump is scheduled to be there so that is very much going to be a focus."
Speaking on the sidelines of an anti-war rally in New York City, Founders commended protesters’ efforts in Chicago on Friday after thousands of demonstrators clashed with Trump’s supporters, resulting in Trump cancelling the event.
"We will certainly try," Flounders said when asked by Sputnik if she hopes next Sunday’s protest can achieve the same result.
Trump has been widely criticized for his inflammatory rhetoric and controversial statements, including in relation to illegal immigrants, particularly from Mexico, Muslims, and women.
