MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Russian Center on Syrian reconciliation has delivered a total of three metric tons of humanitarian aid to two localities in Syria in the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry said Sunday.
"Over three [metric] tons of humanitarian aid were delivered to Adra and Yabroud in the province of Damascus over the past 24 hours. Residents received food and bottled water," the ministry's Reconciliation Center Bulletin read.
New humanitarian convoys are expected to be sent to Aleppo, Homs and Damascus provinces.
Since 2011, Syria has been mired in a civil war, with government forces fighting a number of militant groups and opposition factions.
Russia and the United States reached an agreement on the ceasefire in Syria on February 22. The ceasefire took effect on February 27.
