MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Police in the US city of Chester, Pennsylvania, have used pepper spray to disperse a gathering, which was attended by mostly African-Americans, local media reported.
According to the NBC, alleged car thieves on Saturday afternoon opened fire on police who tried to stop the car that had been wanted. Two people got injured when police opened a return fire, one of whom died. A police officer also received injuries in the cross-fire.
Local residents, mostly African-Americans, gathered at the scene on Saturday evening, claiming that police had shot a wrong man. A skirmish with police turned violent, the locals demolished a police cordon and started a scuffle with officers. Police used pepper spray to disperse protesters, two people were arrested.
Police said that a thorough investigation into the shooting was due to be held.
