GENEVA (Sputnik), Anastasia Levchenko — Earlier in the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered to withdraw the Russian military contingent from Syria.
"We hope that [Russia's move] is a good step and we hope that it will give peace a chance. There are more chances [for a solution] now, because there will be less arrogance from the side of the Syrian regime," Yahya Alaridi said.
The Swiss city of Geneva currently hosts proximity talks between the Syrian opposition and the government's delegation to put an end to the deadly civil war.
Two opposition delegations are taking part in the negotiations. The HNC was created in Saudi Arabia in December and includes representatives of some groups considered to be terrorist organizations by Syria and Russia. The second delegation was created following talks in Moscow and Cairo.
The Russian Aerospace Forces have been conducting its aerial campaign against terrorist groups in Syria since September 30 at Damascus's request.
