KUALA LUMPUR (Sputnik) – Earlier in the day, Abu Zahar Ujang held a meeting in Kuala Lumpur with his Russian counterpart Valentina Matvienko.
"We had a very good, intensive negotiations. We aim to develop cooperation between Russia and Malaysia," the Malaysian official told reporters at a joint press conference following the meeting with Russia's Federation Council speaker.
Matvienko highlighted a consistent character of the high-level dialogue between the two countries, and "in general, quite good results of cooperation in various fields."
The trade turnover between Russia and Malaysia in 2015 amounted to some $1.95 billion, including $636 million worth of goods exported by Russia and $1.31 billion by Malaysia.
