NOVOSIBIRSK (Sputnik) – Scientists from the Siberian branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences have created a technology to rapidly detect minute particles of the hepatitis C virus and single viruses, the branch’s publication said Tuesday.
"Using the method of Novosibirsk scientists we can separate the different types of bacteria and to measure the strength of their connection to the surface. In the moment when the particles detach from the plane, experts detect a special acoustic signal. All this helps to detect single viruses and phages," the Science in Siberia publication reads.
The technology allows not only to detect the hepatitis virus, but also to study the structure of the particles, according to the publication.
The Russian scientists are currently developing a portable device to conduct rapid tests for the hepatitis C virus using the new method.
