MOSCOW (Sputnik) – US Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens and three other US citizens were killed when an armed Islamist mob attacked the consulate in the second largest city in Libya on September 11, 2012.
"Libya was a different kind of calculation and we didn't lose a single person… We didn’t have a problem in supporting our European and Arab allies in working with NATO," Clinton was quoted as saying by the Fox News Channel.
In late October 2015, Clinton was called by the select committee to testify on her role and knowledge of the September 2012 attack on the US diplomatic compound in Benghazi and accepted responsibility for the tragedy.
Republican lawmakers claim the White House and US State Department did not send military back-up to the besieged diplomats to avoid publicly admitting the attack was carried by al-Qaida-backed terrorists. The Obama administration had said it decimated the terrorist network by killing Osama bin Laden in 2011.
