NEW YORK (Sputnik) — A bomb squad has been deployed to John F. Kennedy airport in New York City after possible explosives were found at a cargo area on the premisis, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey spokesman Joseph Pentangelo told Sputnik on Tuesday.
"Possible explosives material at the location," Pentangelo said. "NYPD [New York Police Department] bomb squad notified and responding."
Pentangelo added that the possible explosives were detected at 12:00 p.m. EST by K-9 units at a building occupied by DHL Cargo.
John F. Kennedy (JFK) Airport is the busiest international air passenger gateway into the United States, according to the US Department of Transportation.
