MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko informed President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday of a full reassessment together with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) of the staff of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA).
"We are conducting the relevant work jointly with WADA. We have carried out a complete reassessment of RUSADA staff, created for them more advanced possibilities for independence. They have asked to change the organizational and legal form [of the organization], introduced WADA representatives in the supervisory board," Mutko said at a meeting with the Russian president.
It was suggested to include in the Russian anti-doping organization two or three specialists to serve as experts recommended by the world anti-doping system, he added.
In November 2015, an independent committee from the WADA accused Russia of violating anti-doping rules. The WADA suspended RUSADA's anti-doping lab operations amid large-scale doping corruption scandal.
The following month, the Russian Sports Ministry said all RUSADA top executives resigned in light of accusations of covering up doping by Russia's leading athletes.
