US authorities intend to release soon the report of the investigation into the bombing of a Doctors Without Borders hospital in Kunduz, Afghanistan last October, US Department of Defense spokesman Christopher Sherwood told Sputnik.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — On October 3, 2015, a US AC-130 gunship aircraft shot 30mm cannon shells for 30 minutes into a Doctors Without Borders hospital in the Afghan city of Kunduz, killing more than 40 medical staff and patients, including children.

Doctors Without Borders called the attack a war crime.

"The investigation and subsequent report have been completed and the report is in the process of undergoing a security review and redaction for eventual public release," Sherwood stated on Thursday. "I do not have a timeline to provide other than to say we’re committed to a public release as soon as possible."
