Public Trust in Scottish Government Reaches Highest Level Since 1999
14:59 GMT 17.03.2016 (Updated: 15:31 GMT 17.03.2016) A total of 73 percent of the Scottish public trust their government, which is the highest rate recorded since 1999, a survey revealed Thursday.
EDINBURGH (Sputnik) – According to the Scottish Social Attitudes survey, public trust in the UK government is at the low level of 23 percent.
"Three quarters of people believe the Scottish Government should have the most influence over the way Scotland is run," Deputy First Minister John Swinney commented on the results of the survey in a statement published on the Scottish government's website.

According to Swinney, the poll’s results reflect the Scottish government’s commitment to "giving people the chance to tell us what matters to them, and inform the decisions we make."
The survey also found that 59 percent of the Scottish public believed the Scottish government listened to the views of the population compared to just 17 percent who thought the UK government did so.
