MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Two police cars used water cannons and officers sprayed tear gas to disperse protesters blocking the central Paulista Avenue for the past 39 hours, the G1 news website said.
Brazil has been rocked by protests for days after President Rousseff named her predecessor, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, as chief of staff last week. His appointment was blocked by a Friday court ruling.
Fears are that the appointment could hinder a large-scale corruption investigation against the 70-year-old former president, who is suspected of money laundering.
