Eight US Sailors Injured Amid Plane Landing on Aircraft Carrier Eisenhower

Eight US sailors serving on the US aircraft carrier Eisenhower sustained injuries during an aircraft landing on the ship’s deck, according to local media reports.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The sailors were injured when "an arresting gear parted" during an aircraft landing off the coast of the state of Virginia, NBC News reported on Friday.

The aircraft has reportedly flown back to a land base, while six sailors were transported to a hospital in Norfolk, Virginia.

The Eisenhower is a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier that was launched in October 1975.
