MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Greek police have warned refugees remaining near the border with Macedonia against attempts to cross into the neighboring country and advised staying at a refugee camp in the Greek town of Idomeni, local media reported Friday.
"The border is closed. At reception centers you will find food and a place to stay. Do not trust irresponsible people who will put your life in danger. Do not suffer for no reason," the Greek police said in a leaflet obtained by the Kathimerini newspaper.
According to the media outlet, the text was written in Greek and translated into Arabic.
The incident occurred after the closure of borders along the so-called Western Balkan migrant route, which has resulted in more than 10,000 refugees being stranded in Greece, along its border with Macedonia.
