BRUSSELS (Sputnik) – All undocumented migrants who crossed waters from Turkey toward Greece will be returned as part of the cemented EU-Turkey migrant action plan, European Council President Donald Tusk said Friday.
"We agreed that all irregular migrants coming from Turkey to the Greek islands starting from Sunday, March 20, will be returned to Turkey," Tusk said at a joint press conference with Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker.
He reaffirmed that the pact hammered out at the European Council in Brussels complies with international law and the principle of not forcing refugees or asylum seekers to return to homelands that they flee from persecution, known as non-refoulement.
