Two powerful explosions on Friday shook the Molenbeek district of Brussels where the main suspect of last fall's Paris terrorist attacks was arrested in a special police raid earlier in the day, the RTBF television reported.

BRUSSELS (Sputnik) — Belgian police raided the notorious Molenbeek neighborhood after fingerprints of Paris attacks fugitive Salah Abdeslam had been found in a Brussels apartment. According to media reports, the police operation in Molenbeek is still underway.

"Two powerful explosions took place, but their exact nature is not clear yet," a RTBF correspondent said in a footage from the site.

Earlier in the day, Paris attacks mastermind Salah Abdeslam had been detained in the Brussels commune of Molenbeek.

Belgian police raided the notorious Molenbeek neighborhood after fingerprints of Paris attacks fugitive Salah Abdeslam had been found in a Brussels apartment.

On November 13, a series of coordinated attacks at several locations in the French capital killed at least 130 people and injured over 360. Daesh claimed responsibility for the attacks.
