MOSCOW (Sputnik) – On Wednesday, Western media reported that eight EU members signed an anti-Nord Stream-2 letter addressed to European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker.
Russian envoy to the EU Vladimir Chizhov said Wednesday the renewed negotiations over the South Stream to satisfy Europe’s demand in Russian natural gas were on the table.
"We will discuss them if there are suggestions [on renewing South Stream talks]. If there are commercial projects, they must comply with the Third Energy Package and the European Energy Union’s goals," Usackas told reporters.
He added that the Nord Stream-2 "does not create new supply sources, but it is a commercial project and there are negotiations," reiterating the stance that it too must comply with Brussels’ objectives.
