WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The aircraft will be manufactured in Savannah and is expected to be completed in December 2018, according to the announcement.
"Gulfstream Aerospace Corp., Savannah, Georgia, is being awarded a $91.9 million… contract for the procurement of one Gulfstream G-550 Green aircraft with Airborne Early Warning air vehicle modifications," the announcement on Friday stated.
The G-550 Green has a range of 6,750 nautical miles (12,501 kilometers) nonstop flight. The aircraft is capable of operating out of short-field, high-altitude airports. It can transport up to 18 passengers and has the range to fly more than 12 hours.
