MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Cyprus Consular General in Russia is on his way to Rostov-on-Don after it was confirmed a citizen of Cyprus was among the victims of the deadly crash of a FlyDubai plane, Cyprus Ambassador to Russia George Kasoulides told Sputnik.
"We have a Consulate General in Samara, he is on his way to make all the further arrangements. We are on the details now," the ambassador said.
Earlier in the day, the Russian prosecutor's office said that the plane's commander was a Cypriot citizen. The Cyprus Foreign Ministry also confirmed to Sputnik that a Cypriot citizen was based in Dubai and was working for the Fly Dubai.
"We are going to do everything necessary for the identification and also for the removal of his remains back to Cyprus," Kasoulides said.
FlyDubai Boeing 737-800 plane coming from Dubai crashed at about 03:50 Moscow time (00:50 GMT) on Saturday while attempting landing amid poor weather conditions at the Rostov-on-Don Airport (ROV). All people who were aboard died.
