MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the statement, terrorists continued attempts to undermine the peace process in Syria. It cited witness reports from residents of the Hama province who observed Islamist troops controlled by al-Nusra Front terror group on the move in the region’s northwest. The military said this was a sign that jihadists were mounting an offensive.
"Negotiations via phone conference call were held between the command of the Russian Reconciliation Center (Hmeymim) and the US Coordination Center (Amman). The sides voiced concern over cessation of hostilities breaches in the provinces of Latakia and Hama," the Russian center said in a bulletin published on the Defense Ministry’s website.
The truce was violated five times in the past 24 hours – twice in Latakia and Aleppo and once in Hama, according to the Defense Ministry’s estimates. During the same period, 5.5 tonnes of humanitarian assistance – food and bottled water – was delivered to residents in the villages of Kafr Nan and Tesnin in the Homs province.
