MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the press service, at 05:00 Moscow time [02:00 GMT] on Monday cargo vehicles left the Noginsk rescue center situated near Moscow in the direction of the Russia's southern Rostov region. These trucks will become a part of the 50th humanitarian aid convoy for residents of Ukraine's southeastern Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
"The 50th Russian Emergencies Ministry's convoy is expected to leave for Donbass on March 24 and to carry over 1,100 tonnes [metric tons] of humanitarian cargo," the press service told journalists adding that the cargo will include different kinds of food, seeds for spring sowing campaign and educational literature for pupils and students.
The Ukraine's southeast has been severely affected by Kiev’s special military operation, launched in April 2014. The operation was a response to local residents' refusal to recognize the new coup-installed government in the country.
Overall, Russia has sent more than 59,000 tons of humanitarian aid to Donbass since August 2014.
