Former tennis star Bjorn Borg is launching a new underwear collection called "The Skin Collection." The aim is to "take a stand against racism," according to an announcement by his company on Sweden's Nyheter24 website.
Known for his incredible tennis career and popular fashion brand, Bjorn Borg is also a celebrated human rights activist, advocating gender equality, anti-racism and promoting a humane attitude towards minorities. According to the company statement, the goal of the latest campaign highlights "how sick it is to see the white skin color as the norm," which is why the anti-racist collection is released today, on the International Day Against Racial Discrimination, March 21.
The new collection features both hot pants and shorts, which are available in six different shades of skin color, based on the Fitzpatrick scale.
"Nude is not a color; it is a concept that everyone should have the right to enjoy. We call it ‘six shades of human,' and the reason why we are launching the collection on the UN Day Against Racial Discrimination is that the political climate in Europe has been very hard lately and we want to show where we stand. This is our contribution to the debate," says Jonas Lindberg Nyvang, Marketing Manager at Bjorn Borg.
