The 'Desert Falcons' militia unit together with the Syrian army has completed the first phase of the operation to storm Palmyra by securing strategic positions around the ancient city. According to the unit's commander, the troops are getting ready to storm Palmyra in the near future.
During the first phase of the operation to liberate Palmyra, Desert Falcons helped secure strategic staging areas and destroy Daesh assets around the city.
"Soon we will begin the assault on the city. We will soon report to all of our friends that Palmyra is under our control,” Falcons' commander Mohammad Jaber said.
There are currently about 5,000 'Desert Falcons' fighting alongside the Syrian army against the encroaching radical Islamist forces.
