WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Iran’s latest ballistic missile test should be met with more sanctions, US Democratic presidential frontrunner and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on Monday.
"Iranian provocations, like the recent ballistic missile test, also are unacceptable and should be answered firmly and quickly including with more sanctions," Clinton stated during a speech to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee Annual Conference.
The Democratic frontrunner added that if Washington sees any indication Iran violated any commitments "not to seek, develop, or acquire nuclear weapons, the United States will act to stop it and will do so with force if necessary."
Earlier in March, Iranian state media reported that the country’s Revolutionary Guard Corps carried out a ballistic missile test as one of the last steps in testing the capabilities of Iranian-produced missiles.
Following the reports, US lawmakers threatened to impose more sanctions on Iran, while the Obama administration has warned that if the reports are confirmed, the United States would raise the matter with the UN Security Council.
