BRUSSELS (Sputnik) — More than a thousand people are unable to leave the Brussels airport at the center of Tuesday's deadly terrorist attacks, local media reported.
Earlier in the day, two bombs exploded in the departure hall of Brussels international airport, leaving at least 14 people dead, while a blast at the central Brussels Maelbeek metro station killed another 20. According to the Belgian crisis center, some 230 people were injured in the attacks.
According to the Avenir news portal, more than 1,000 of passengers, including many using the airport for transit journeys, have been unable to leave the airport because of security measures.
According to media reports, the Islamic State (ISIL or Daesh) militant group, which is outlawed in a number of countries, including the United States and Russia, claimed responsibility for the deadly attacks.
