Poland introduced increased security measures at airports amid blasts in Belgium.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Poland introduced on Tuesday increased security measures at airports in the wake of the attack at the Brussels Zaventem airport earlier in the day, local media reported, citing spokeswoman for the Polish Border Guard Agnieszka Golias.

"Additional border guard patrols have been introduces at Polish airports," The Fakt24 news outlet quoted Golias as saying.

European Airports Step Up Security After Brussels Attacks
A Polish LOT airline flight, scheduled to depart from Brussels to Warsaw earlier on Tuesday, was canceled, the media reported. At the moment, Polish airlines are said to be considering the cancellations of and changes to other flights.

Two explosions hit Brussels's Zaventem airport at around 8:00 a.m. local time (07:00 GMT) on Tuesday. According to the prosecutor's office in Brussels, 13 people were killed and 35 injured in what the authorities say was a terrorist attack.

More casualties are feared amid explosions across several metro stations in central Brussels, as a nationwide terror threat has been elevated to the maximum level and all public transport has been suspended.
