MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The Russian Federal Tourism Agency (Rosturism) has received no information about the Russian tourists who could have been hurt in several blasts that shook Brussels on Tuesday, the agency’s chief said.
"We are constantly in touch with the Russian Foreign Ministry and the Russian diplomatic representatives in Belgium. No information on the injured among the Russian tourists in Brussels has emerged so far," Oleg Safonov told RIA Novosti.
"There is no precise data on the presence of organized [groups] of tourists in Brussels yet. We are carefully checking the information. Since it is currently low season in Europe, presumably, there is no large number of organized tourist groups from Russia in Belgium so far," Svetlana Sergeeva told RIA Novosti.
Two explosions hit Brussels's Zaventem airport on Tuesday at around 8:00 a.m. local time (07:00 GMT). The explosion killed 13 people, and injured 35, according to the prosecutor's office in Brussels.
Shortly after the airport blasts, explosions were also reported at the Maalbeek and Schuman metro stations in the Brussels city center.
