MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The failure to integrate Muslim communities into European society and the many prolonged conflicts in the Middle East are the main causes of the Brussels attacks, a UK member of the European Parliament told Sputnik Tuesday.
"There are several underlying issues that drive radicalization which can lead to criminal acts like those committed in Brussels. One of these issues are problems related to the integration of Europe´s Muslims communities. The other is the prolonged conflict and political instability in the Middle East, which we all bear responsibility for," Afzal Khan, a Labour Party politician, said.
Khan called for combined efforts to ensure a global solution to violent extremism, stressing the complexity of the problem.
