New York Mayor Bill de Blasio stated that city is currently facing no specific threat following the massive terror attack in Brussels which has claimed the lives of more than 30 people.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) New York City is currently facing no specific threat following the massive terror attack in Brussels which has claimed the lives of more than 30 people, New York Mayor Bill de Blasio said on Tuesday.

"There is no specific or credible threat to NYC," de Blasio said during a press conference.

New York officials also noted that they were ramping up security measures around the city as an extra precaution following the attacks.

Earlier in the day, two bomb explosions left at least 14 people dead at the Brussels Airport, while a blast in the central Brussels Maelbeek metro station killed 20. According to the latest reports, as many as 200 people were injured in the attacks.
