BRUSSELS (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, a series of terrorist attacks in Brussels killed at least 34 people and injured more than 230. The Islamic State militant group, which is outlawed in Russia and many other countries, claimed responsibility for the attacks. After that, Belgium raised its terror alert to the fourth level, which is the highest.
"The fourth level [of threat] was announced after the first two explosions. At the moment, we do not have information, which would let us say we know about preparation of a [terrorist] act somewhere," Jan Jambon told the RTL broadcaster on Tuesday.
