MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Over 1,000 Russian Western Military District soldiers and around 200 pieces of military equipment took part in motorized infantry formation exercises in the Voronezh Region, the district’s spokesman said Tuesday.
"The formation personnel has been alerted and was deployed to designated areas in staff equipment, where a number of control tasks on firing, tactical and special training will be carried out throughout the week," Igor Muginov told reporters.
Muginov said a battalion group would perform tactical training while carrying out retrograde defense operations toward the end of the drills.
He specified that advanced communications systems and electronic warfare equipment, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles, would be utilized in the exercises.
