NEW DELHI (Sputnik) — The next BRICS summit will be held in Goa on October 15-16 this year, Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj said Tuesday.
"I am glad to announce that the next BRICS summit will be held in Goa on October 15-16, 2016," Swaraj said.
India assumed chairmanship of the BRICS alliance of five major emerging economies – Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa – on February 15.
The last BRICS summit was held in the Russian city of Ufa on July 9-10, 2015. During the event, the sides agreed on a number of joint projects and initiatives, including in the areas of energy, financing and investment.
