MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The world must unite in fight against the common threat of the global terrorism, speaker of the Russian parliament’s lower house Sergei Naryshkin said Tuesday after the explosions in a Brussels airport and metro.
A series of blasts hit Brussels earlier in the day, including two explosions in the Brussels Zaventem airport that reportedly left 28 people killed and at least 35 injured. Fifteen people are feared dead and 55 injured in an explosion at the Maelbeek metro station in central Brussels that occurred half an hour later.
"The civilized world at this time must unite against the common threat of international terrorism," Naryshkin said at a plenary session in the parliament.
Earlier in the day, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said the attacks in the Belgian capital highlighted once again the need for joint efforts in combating terrorism.
