GENEVA (Sputnik) – UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan De Mistura said Tuesday he has strong expectations on Lavrov-Kerry meeting in Moscow, and hopes they will boost Syrian settlement.
"We have strong expectations on the talks of Lavrov and Kerry in Moscow, we hope they will be productive in order to help us resume the talks in depth on the political transition in Syria," de Mistura told reporters.
US State Secretary John Kerry reaffirmed on Monday his plans to discuss security issues, the situation in the Middle East and Ukraine, as well as many 'special' topics with the Russian leadership during his visit to Russia on March 23-24.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed earlier on Tuesday that Kerry will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin during his Moscow visit.
