WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US government conceded that recent Russian airstrikes are being directed against the Islamic State (Daesh) and its affiliates and not the Syrian opposition, a State Department official told reporters on Tuesday.
“Those Russian airstrikes that are occurring are actually occurring against Daesh and al-Nusra… and not against the opposition," the official stated.
